My !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! post has exceeded 15k views, when my posts usually get around 200. It sets a record by far.

And too bad you can’t look at the view count in your dashboard!

JK, if it gets picked up by kinja’s SEO or linked to a forum or other external site the views start shooting up and you start getting random new commentors making accounts just to shitpost on your post

This usually has something to do with getting pinned to the sidebar for “ popular from Oppo.” Most of my posts get from ~100 page views to several hundred. A couple of have gotten pinned to the sidebar, and then they end up several thousand plus views.

Well, I’m not on any of the popular social media sites, so I don’t promote anything beyond providing links when appropriate. My posts often end up with double-digit view counts, perhaps because they’re getting pushed off of the front page by shitposts. Or maybe the subjects just aren’t as interesting as I think they are...

Sometimes a post will get up to 300 views if people see it and take an interest. My JRitS roundups are usually somewhere around there.

Every once in a while though, something will really take off somehow and rack up a lot of views. For example, my “ airbag sensor ” post from the other day has 1k now. And that story about the B-17 tail gunner was fortunate enough to even catch the attention of a crewmember’s relative.

I’m ecstatic to see 22k on my post about copper brake lines . I really put a lot of work into that one. Wonder if it’s getting passed around on forums or something.

And I’ve had a couple of posts shared to Jalopnik as well. I guess they don’t do that anymore, but those were nice little boosts.

Normally around 200 or 300. I really don’t post much anymore though. My max was some hot headed thing I wrote about NASCAR in high school that got shared to front page and got 56k.

Seems like a lot. I quickly looked back at recent posts and a couple of hundred seems pretty normal. A post in the past couple of weeks about how Oppo likes their coffee was at 1.7k views.

Go to “M anage Oppositelock” from the profile drop down menu. In that, Select “your post” next to the dropdown arrow next to “manage:” and go to “Published” selection in the list below that.

I don’t usually pay attention to the number of views.  I look at the number of responses.  For me, being on Oppositelock is all about conversation and community.

Blackbird topped a million, posts shared to FP were usually good for about 15-30k, posts that never left oppo that aren’t related to the moderation of oppo were usually in the 100-500 range.
